SAIOP (ASAM 2.1)

Intensive outpatient recovery that fits your life.

Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) at ASAM Level 2.1 β€” structured group programming with flexible virtual and in-person options across North Carolina.

What it is

SAIOP is a structured, intensive outpatient program for people who need more than weekly counseling but do not need inpatient care. At Beacon Bridge, SAIOP is delivered at ASAM Level 2.1 β€” typically several group sessions per week focused on relapse prevention, coping skills, education, and recovery planning.

We offer SAIOP both virtually and in person. Virtual SAIOP is especially popular β€” clients can join secure group sessions from home, making it easier to keep work, school, and family commitments while getting consistent support.

Every SAIOP participant starts with an ASAM assessment to confirm the right level of care, then moves into a schedule that fits their needs. Classes are interactive, evidence-based, and led by licensed or certified clinicians.

FAQ

Frequently asked.

Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Still unsure? Call (833) 496-0445 β€” we're glad to talk it through.

How many hours a week is SAIOP?

SAIOP typically runs 9–12 hours per week β€” usually three group sessions plus individual check-ins. We work with your schedule and offer morning, afternoon, and evening slots.

Is Virtual SAIOP the same as in-person?

Yes. Virtual SAIOP meets the same ASAM Level 2.1 standards, is led by the same licensed clinicians, and covers the same curriculum β€” just from home over a secure video platform.

How long does the program last?

Most clients complete SAIOP in about 8–12 weeks, depending on progress and treatment goals. Your clinician builds a plan with you and reassesses along the way.

Will I have to do drug screens?

Random drug screens are a standard part of SAIOP. They're used to support your recovery β€” not to punish β€” and results are handled confidentially within your treatment team.

What happens after I finish SAIOP?

Most clients step down to ongoing therapy, peer support, or a lower level of care. We build the next step with you so you don't lose momentum after graduation.

How do I check if my insurance covers SAIOP?

Use our Verify Coverage page or call (833) 496-0445. We work with all major NC Medicaid MCOs and most commercial plans and will confirm benefits before you start.
