Addiction Treatment

SAIOP & SACOT, clearly defined.

Two distinct outpatient substance use programs: SAIOP at ASAM Level 2.1 and SACOT at ASAM Level 2.3. Both available virtually and in-person across North Carolina.

What it is

Beacon Bridge treats substance use disorders with two separate, structured outpatient programs. Each is matched to a different level of clinical need, so clients get the right intensity of care from day one.

SAIOP (Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program) is ASAM Level 2.1. It is highly structured group programming — typically several sessions per week — focused on relapse prevention, coping strategies, and recovery skills. We offer SAIOP both virtually and in-person, and our virtual program is one of the most accessible ways to get started.

SACOT (Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment) is ASAM Level 2.3. It is a step up in intensity, with more frequent individual and group counseling, life-skills development, and recovery-focused education throughout the week. SACOT is ideal for people who need more support than SAIOP but can still live at home.

FAQ

Frequently asked.

Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Still unsure? Call (833) 496-0445 — we're glad to talk it through.

What's the difference between SAIOP and SACOT?

SAIOP is ASAM Level 2.1 — structured group programming several times a week. SACOT is ASAM Level 2.3 — more frequent and comprehensive, with individual counseling, group therapy, and life-skills work throughout the week. SACOT is a step up in intensity for people who need more support.

How do I know which one I need?

You don't have to figure that out alone. We complete an ASAM assessment during intake and place you at the level of care that actually fits — 2.1 or 2.3.

Do you offer virtual programs?

Yes — Virtual SAIOP is available across all 100 NC counties with multiple time slots each day. SACOT is delivered in-person at our Durham and Greensboro locations.

Do you offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT)?

We coordinate with prescribers in our psychiatric team and community MAT providers when medication (like Suboxone or Vivitrol) is part of your plan. Ask us at intake and we'll help arrange it.

Can you send documentation to DSS, courts, or my employer?

Yes, with your signed release we can provide attendance letters, progress updates, and completion documentation to DSS, probation, drug court, employers, or referring providers.
